If you need to get Windows OS and Version information of a list of servers, then you can use following script.

You can migrate selected Virtual Machines in a Hyper-V server with following script.
That will migrate all virtual machines into target volume.
If target volume is not specified, it will look for best available CSV volume, and migrate virtual machine into that.

This script should work even if you have pass-through disks on virtual machine or virtual hba.

If you need to increase memory of your virtual machines, you can use following script.

You need to create a txt file like:

VM01;2048
VM02;4096

Save it as Memory.txt and run following script:

You can get VMs with Dynamic Memory on SCVMM with following command:

Get-VM | Where DynamicMemoryEnabled -eq $True | ft Name, Cloud

That will give you name of the virtual machine and cloud information.

This is the third part of my Microsoft Azure VM Monitoring series. In the first part, I showed you how to simply monitor Azure VM with PowerShell. In the second part, we output all data into XML and parse it on a website.

Now we are moving forward.. Adding an autoscale function into our monitoring script. So, in a Azure VM farm, we have a stopped VM or VMs. We will monitor average CPU usage of all VMs in farm. If their CPU usage reaches to 40% percent, that will start our stopped VM to autoscale our web farm.

This is just an idea. You can use other metrics to autoscale your environment. For example, you can use IIS metrics to monitor website performance and start VMs if farm is under high web load.

As you see, I started all VMs. But you can start VMs one by one or you can shutdown a VM if CPU usage is not high.

In the first part of our Azure Monitoring series, I showed you how to collect basic monitoring data from your Azure VMs. That was real time statistics but it was output everything on PowerShell console via Write-Host. It doesn’t make any sense because it’s not practical.

Now in this part, we will output all data into XML file, so you can use it on a website or on your CRM. You can also use .NET or PHP to parse XML data and put statistics onto website.

Following script is sample codes of VirtualMetric: Azure Module. You can check it from: http://www.virtualmetric.com
